“Hooves Up” Preview
What happens when hate stops being abstract—and starts showing up in your own community? ✨
In Pickering, what started small got louder, bolder… and harder to ignore. 📣
But so did we. 💅
This film follows the people who stood up, spoke out, and refused to let their neighbours be targeted in silence. It also pulls back the curtain on how council responded—and what it took to push back against rising hate in our city. 🛡️
Because the impact wasn’t abstract. It showed up in hearings, in investigations, in courtrooms, and in the need for heightened security just to keep civic spaces safe.
At the heart of it all:
Community isn’t something we assume. It’s something we defend. ✨
“Hooves Up” Is More Than a Song – It’s a National Chorus
After the 2022 election, misinformation and hate began to divide neighbours in Pickering. An activist unicorn stepped forward with cardboard, markers and a camera, asking hard questions and calling on friends to stand for truth and for the communities being targeted – and friends answered!
What began as one voice grew into many. Video by video, board by board, the message spread. The final march across the Rainbow crosswalk was not a single moment. It was a culmination. A parade of love carrying the very signs that sparked the movement. A community walking together toward City Hall in clarity, courage, and caring.
Glitter isn’t just “one person”. Glitter is in all of us who believe in kindness, acceptance and love.
When hate tries to divide, we rise together.
Hooves up – Hearts out – LET LOVE SHINE!
